Omololu's success can be credited to its holistic approach to education. Therefore while students receive the traditional forms of instruction these are supported by the basic tenets of education for a life that is socially and emotionally fulfilling. Creative Arts play an integral role in the curriculum as students have an opportunity to express themselves through various artistic avenues, such as crochet, painting, singing, and drama.

In our "workshop" approach to learning, classroom experiences are structured and guided to enable students to socially construct knowledge, an environment in which talking, sharing, and learning from one other is valued; where everyone is considered a teacher; and where cooperation and collaboration are two of our guiding principles. Hence the building blocks of our educational programme include: Educating for Peace, Building Healthy Bodies, Enhancing Positive Self Esteem, Promoting Multilingual Competence, Committing to Excellence, Providing a Safe, Nurturing Environment, Building Positive Gender Relations, Experiencing Multicultural Education, Fostering Creative Expression, Creating Environmental Awareness, Conducting Community Service, Actively liaising with Parents.

LITERACY INSTRUCTION
We develop literate and independent readers who read for different purposes including pleasure. We use the five components of a scientifically-based reading instruction in the early grades: phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension, and are requisite skills for standards-based instruction.

MATH /SCIENCE INSTRUCTION
O
ur students consider themselves mathematicians and scientists who can relate theoretical concepts to the real world. Beginning in kindergarten, our students are exposed to the scientific process and become social scientists who learn about and question the people, cultures and institutions that surround them. Our students learn through inquiry and discovery by posing questions of their world, creating hypotheses, and attempting to prove and disprove their theses.

TECHNOLOGY
Our students learn the technological skills needed to succeed in the 21st century. They are exposed to various media, and we encourage them to access the World Wide Web to conduct research on topics of their interests, exploring their theories on these topics through writing, and publishing their ideas for the world to see. In addition, our students are also excited to begin their "Buddies Across Continents Program" which allows them to communicate in real time through email with other young people around the world and learn about their school system and culture.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE
As a fundamental part of our curriculum, French, Spanish, and American Sign Language are taught to our students from the age of three in their pre-school classroom. Our students study these three languages during their years at Omololu and become fluent speakers of them by the time they graduate. The fundamentals of the languages are taught in the early grades while grades one to six enjoy a gradual immersion language programme.

COMMUNITY SERVICE
We empower our students to take ownership of their education by approaching learning with curiosity and a sense of responsibility for putting their knowledge into action in service of others. Our school structures opportunities for students to reflect upon their academic and service experiences in an effort to breakdown the barrier between the classroom and the outside world. Our students visit the nursing home regularly and conduct other civic activities in the community.

ENRICHMENT PROGRAMMES
We offer dance, American Sign Language, Spanish, French, football, physical education, literary and drama clubs, art, crochet, soccer, and other enriching courses throughout the school year.
