NEW FACILITY
Omololu has been granted from the Government of Anguilla a 99 years lease of 2 acres of land on which it will build its expanded facility. The land is located just outside the Valley, set back several hundred yards from the Farrington Road. This location is convenient for parents who already travel to/from the town during the week, while still providing a safe recreation space for children.
SITE PLAN
The design of the school is inspired by the concept of a small village, providing a welcoming community type atmosphere with both communal and separate learning spaces and experience spaces. The Site plan for the school includes ten (10) structures. Seven (7) of the structures will each hold two (2) regular classrooms for a total of fourteen (14) classrooms. One Administration building will hold offices, computer lab and maintenance facilities. An arts and recreation center will house arts & crafts and music facilities. An assembly building will hold a common meeting area and larger flexible areas.
COMMUNITY VILLAGE SCHOOL HOUSE PLANS
A total of four structures are planned for the initial two years of operation. Three of the structures will house 6 classes for the school while one will hold administration and computer lab facilities. The total plan covers the first 5 years of the school's expansion. Expansion for additional grades and students can be accommodated by adding second.
DEVELOPMENTS, INITIATIVES, AND CONTRIBUTIONS
Construction commenced in early 2008 on the school campus, with generous donations of materials and labor by Ashtrom, Kamique, Flag and Cuisinart owner Lee Rizzuto. Construction is now forecast to be completed in March 2009. The school's Establishment Committee overseas the development initiative of the new school construction. This team includes Ira Bloom (Kamique Properties), Frederick Harrigan and Myrna Sepersaud (Daddy's Construction), and Kenn Banks, Civil engineer.
In addition, Carl Richards, of Richards Architecture and Design, has been hired to serve as construction manager for the project. Mr. Richards' office was responsible for the final design and construction documents for the facility.
