Dr. Oluwakemi M. Linda Banks
Executive Director and Founder

The founder and Executive Director of the Teacher Gloria Omololu Institute, Dr Oluwakemi M. Linda Banks, is a clinical psychologist, a human resource development consultant, communication specialist and an educator. She has been involved in education since 1965, when she began as a secondary and primary school teacher, moving up the ranks to become the Head Teacher of the all-aged Primary School at Island Harbour. She was a pioneer teacher at the Methodist Agogic Centre in St. Maarten, where after five years she was offered the job of Principal. She chose instead to return to graduate school in the USA to pursue a Ph.D. degree in clinical psychology so that she could return to Anguilla to serve in her people.

Dr Banks' educational qualifications include teacher training certification with distinction from the St. Lucia Teacher Training College and the University of the West Indies, a Bachelor of Arts Degree Magna Cum Laude in Psychology and Education from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts, a Master of Science Degree and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Clinical Psychology with minors in Cross-Cultural Clinical Assessment and Speech Communications/ Telecommunications from the Pennsylvania State University.

An internship at Hutchings Psychiatric Centre in Syracuse, New York, included a year-long rotation at Fairmount Children's Centre (a school for emotionally disturbed children). Dr Banks' mulitfaceted career includes service in clinical psychology, human resources, communications and in voluntary leadership roles of many regional and international ecumenical and humanitarian organizations. She is the recipient of several local, regional and international awards and honours.
Johane Ligonde,
Principal

Tr. Johane received a Master in the Arts of Teaching from Union College and an Ed.M degree in Educational Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Tr. Johane worked as an English and literacy teacher in grades 6 through 12 in various parts of the United States, including Atlanta, Georgia; Piedmont, South Carolina and New York City. She played a vital role in the organizational development of different NYC small schools by conducting training workshops for administrators and teachers on creating RFPs, long term planning, data analysis, feasibility and sustainability.

n addition to her pursuits in education, Tr. Johane worked as the Chief Operating Officer of The BeBe Group LLC, a role in which she assisted clients in increasing their capacity with leadership, logistics management, and strategic communications within their respective businesses. She served on the board of directors of the Writing Center of the Greater Capital Region and the advisory board of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Parish.

Tr. Johane is a member of the American Association of school Administrators, the International Reading Association, and the Association of International Education Administrators.
